Everything you wanted to ask but didn't.
Honest answers to the questions every pet parent has - including the ones that feel too small to ask.
About the Book
It is a beautiful 8" x 8" hardcover book containing 16 original portraits, rendered in photorealistic detail, that place your pet in scenes and settings that feel like the best days you never quite managed to photograph. A misty lakeside at dawn. A golden autumn trail. A sunlit meadow with light that cooperated for once.
We study your uploaded photos in detail, the markings, the colouring, the expression they make when they think you can't see them, and use that information to generate portraits so accurate they look like photographs taken by a very good photographer on a very good day.
Unlike a photo album, which gives you what happened, this gives you what should have happened. The same pet. Better everything else.
Each book contains 16 original portraits across 30 pages that includes poetry, each one placing your pet in a different beautiful scene. The portraits are large, high-quality, and formatted to fill the page.
The scenes vary in mood and setting: lakesides at dawn, autumn trails, golden meadows, fireside evenings. Each book is generated specifically for your pet.
The portraits are the heart of the book. They are the book. But each spread includes thoughtfully considered layout, poetry, and framing that gives each scene room to breathe.
Printing your photos gives you a document of what happened. This gives you something different: the version of their life that always felt just out of reach. The perfect morning by the lake you never quite managed. The light that never quite cooperated. The shot you framed in your head but never got.
There is also a subtler difference. When you look at a photo you took, your memory supplies context, the cold morning, rain on your face, the appointment you had to rush to. When you look at a portrait you've never seen before, you experience it as its subject deserves to be experienced. Fully. Without the noise.
This is, incidentally, why people put painted portraits of people they love on walls rather than printouts of candid phone photos. It's not because painters are better photographers. It's because portraits do something different to the viewer.
We study your pet specifically. Not a library of generic dogs or cats, but your animal, their markings, colouring, the shape of their face, the expression they carry when they're relaxed. From that study, we generate portraits that place them in new scenes while keeping every detail of who they are intact.
Before photography existed, families commissioned painters to do something similar. The painter observed the subject, learned them, and produced something that captured not just appearance but character. We do the same, just without asking your dog to hold still for three hours.
The honest test is simply this: does the portrait look like your pet? In our experience, the answer is almost always yes to a degree that surprises people. Which is why we show you before you pay.
Your Photos
This is the question we get asked most. The answer is: please send us the terrible ones.
A blurry photo of your dog mid-sneeze tells us more about their face than a carefully staged portrait ever could. The badly-lit one from the sofa at 11pm tells us how they hold their head when they're relaxed. The one with your thumb in the corner still contains them.
Blurry enthusiasm beats crisp blandness every single time. Professional pet photography gives you technically perfect images of an animal performing for a stranger. Your terrible photos give us the actual creature. We'll take your creature over a performance.
The only photos that don't help are ones where we genuinely cannot identify the animal, extreme motion blur, heavily backlit, or photos primarily of the back of their head. Even then, variety helps.
Between 2 and 10 photos. This might feel like fewer than you expect, but more is not always more.
What we're looking for is variety in angle and expression. Two excellent photos that show their face clearly, one looking straight at the camera, one looking slightly away, will serve us better than twenty nearly identical shots taken in the same afternoon.
If you have a favourite photo, the one that most captures them, always include that. Our aim is to make every portrait feel like you took it on the best day you ever had with them.
Old photos are welcome. Scanned photographs, screenshots from old videos, images saved at lower resolutions, we work with what you have.
Years after a pet is gone, a single decent photo is often all that remains. That is enough. We ask only that we can see their face and some detail of their colouring and markings. The older the photo, the more we appreciate the trust placed in us to get it right.
Your photos are used solely to generate your pet's portraits. They are stored securely and are not shared, sold, or used for any other purpose. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
We understand that pet photos, particularly of pets who have passed, are irreplaceable. We treat them accordingly.
The Portraits
We do our absolute best. Not a dog that looks vaguely like yours. Not a cat of approximately the right colour. Your pet, their markings, their colouring, the shape of their face, the exact expression they make when they've decided you are looking at them.
Every portrait is generated from a study of your pet's specific photos. The result is portraits that customers consistently describe as "uncannily accurate" and, occasionally, "more like them than any photo I've ever taken."
This is what distinguishes us from services that use generic pet illustrations. We don't apply a template to your pet. We build your pet from scratch, then place them in a scene.
You always have the option to request new portrait(s) if any of them are not to your liking.
Beautiful ones. The kind you always meant to take but never quite managed.
Misty lakesides at dawn. Autumn trails with leaves and golden light. Wildflower meadows. Cozy firesides. Around the house. Sunlit afternoons in tall grass. Each scene is chosen to feel like the best version of a real day, not a fantasy, not a cartoon, but the day where everything went right and the light was perfect and they were at their absolute best.
The aim is not to put your pet somewhere impossible. It's to put them somewhere they deserved to be, rendered so realistically that you'll genuinely need a moment before you remember it never happened.
They are original portraits of your pet, rendered in a photorealistic style. They are not photographs, no camera was present, no moment was captured. But they are also not illustrations or paintings in the traditional sense.
They occupy a new category: portraits that look like memories you might have lost. Some customers find them indistinguishable from photographs at first glance. Others show them to guests who then ask who took the photos. We consider that a success.
All portraits are created fresh for your pet. The scenes are not stock images or templates with your pet pasted in. Your pet is rendered as part of the scene from the beginning.
Our standard process uses a curated set of scenes specifically chosen to show every pet at their most beautiful, and experience has shown that these tend to work better than custom requests, because we've refined them over hundreds of books.
The Process
Step 1 - Upload your photos. Visit our upload page, add your pet's name, and upload 2-10 photos. This takes less than five minutes. Any quality of photo is fine.
Step 2 - We generate your preview. Within an hour, we've studied your photos and generated 16 portraits. You'll receive a link to view your preview. This is free. There is no charge, no credit card required.
Step 3 - You decide. If you love your preview, you can order your book. If you don't love it, you don't pay, and you don't owe us anything. No awkward cancellation, no small print.
Step 4 - We print and ship. Your book enters production. In 2-3 weeks, a hardcover book arrives at your door.
Under one hour, typically. Portrait generation, layout, and preview preparation happen automatically once your photos are uploaded. You'll receive a notification when your preview is ready to view.
During busy periods it may take a little longer, but we aim to have every preview ready within the hour.
No. We ask for an email address so we can send you your preview link, that's all. We will automatically create a profile and a password to access it.
Yes. If something isn't right, if a portrait doesn't look like them, if you want to provide better photos, if you'd like us to try again, we will. We don't consider a preview a take-it-or-leave-it transaction.
Our goal is a book that you love. If the first attempt isn't that, the process isn't complete yet.
Pricing
Current pricing is shown at checkout after you've seen your preview. We keep it transparent, the price you see is the price you pay. No subscription, no recurring charges, no hidden fees.
The preview is always free. You only pay if you love what you see.
There is no catch. The preview is free because we believe you should see your pet's portraits before spending money on them. It costs us real time and real compute to generate each one. We absorb that cost because we're confident in what we produce.
The model is simple: we create something beautiful, you see it, you decide. If you don't love it, you've lost nothing except the few minutes it took to upload your photos.
We think this is how it should work. The idea of charging someone in advance for a memorial of their pet, before they've seen a single result, has never sat right with us.
Yes. Multiple people often grieve the same pet, a partner, siblings, parents. An additional copy is a way of sharing the memorial, not duplicating a product.
Additional copies can be ordered at a reduced price.
None. This is a single purchase. You order a book, we make your book, your book arrives. Nothing is automatically renewed, nothing is billed monthly, no membership is required.
We find the idea of a subscription memorial service somewhat troubling, and want to be explicit that this isn't that.
Delivery & Shipping
2-3 weeks from order to doorstep. This includes portrait finalisation, professional printing, hardcover binding, and shipping to your address.
We don't cut corners on print quality to make delivery faster. A book like this should feel like something when you hold it. That requires time to do properly.
Once your order ships, you'll receive a tracking number. Most customers find the wait worthwhile, the arrival of something this considered has a different quality to overnight delivery of something disposable.
Yes. We ship worldwide. Shipping costs and estimated delivery times for your country are shown at checkout.
International orders typically add a few days to the estimated delivery window.
Contact us immediately. We'll either send a replacement or issue a full refund, whichever you prefer, no questions asked.
Books are packaged to withstand standard shipping handling, but occasionally things go wrong in transit. When they do, the fix is straightforward.
Yes. At checkout you can enter a different shipping address from your billing address. The book will arrive at the recipient's address directly, no invoice or pricing information is included inside the package.
For Living Pets
Not at all. In fact, and we mean this sincerely, ordering while they're still with you is better in almost every way.
Made now, this book is a celebration. A portrait gallery. Something you put on the coffee table while they're still stealing their spot on the sofa. When your pet is here to judge your choice of photos. When the weight of it is joy rather than grief.
The book doesn't change. The feeling around it does, completely. Same portraits. Same hardcover. One is pure celebration. The other is part celebration, part memorial. We'd choose the celebration every time, if choosing were still possible.
Some of our happiest customers ordered while their pet was perfectly healthy. Several have since told us that the book became the most important object in their home after their pet passed. They were glad they'd made it when they had.
Yes. If you've ordered a celebration book in the past, we can create a memorial edition, using the same photos or any new ones you'd like to include. The process is the same: upload, preview, decide.
Some families keep both. One made when life was full. One made after. Both true.
Some customers have started doing exactly this, a new book each year, or on each "gotcha day" anniversary. We think it's a beautiful idea. There's no rule that says a portrait gallery only happens once.
Each edition would use the photos from that year, meaning the portrait shows who they are now, not who they were. For animals who change significantly over time, who grey at the muzzle, who slow down, who somehow become more themselves with every passing year, this has a particular resonance.
Ordering as a Gift
It is one of the most considered gifts you can give. Most people who are grieving a pet receive sympathy cards that list the generic virtues of all dogs or cats, or flowers that wilt, or kind words that don't know the specific creature they're missing.
A book of portraits that looks exactly like their pet, placed in beautiful scenes, printed in a hardcover, says something different. It says: I know this was a real loss. I'm choosing to honour that specifically, not generically.
That distinction matters more than most gift-givers realise. Grief is particular, not general. The gift that acknowledges the particular grief is the one that lands differently.
The simplest approach is to ask them directly for 2-3 photos of their pet. You can frame it honestly, "I want to make something for you and I just need a few pictures." Most people find this touching rather than suspicious.
Alternatively, you can ask them to upload the photos themselves using a link you provide, meaning they do the 3-minute upload step and you handle everything else.
Contact us if you'd like help with the gift process. We've navigated this situation many times.
The honest answer is: all of them, and also none required. Some occasions this works especially well for:
- Pet loss - for a friend or family member who is grieving
- Birthdays - for the person whose pet is clearly the main character of their life
- Pet birthdays / gotcha days - marking the anniversary of adoption
- Christmas / holidays - the gift that will actually be remembered
- New pet owners - celebrate the beginning, don't wait for the end
- Grandparents - who have fully accepted your pet as their grandchild and deserve something for the mantlepiece
- Yourself - because you don't need a reason to honour something that mattered
Guarantee & Quality
We'll remake it. If you've seen your preview and something isn't right, the portraits don't look like your pet, the style isn't what you hoped for, anything at all, tell us. We'll try again.
If after a remake you still don't love it, we'll issue a full refund. No questions, no friction, no requirement to explain yourself. We're not in the business of keeping money for something that didn't move you.
This guarantee has no complex small print. The standard is simple: you love it, or you don't pay.
Professional-grade. The book is a genuine hardcover, not a softcover wrapped to look like one. The paper is heavy enough that the portraits have depth rather than lying flat on the page. The colours are calibrated for print rather than being an afterthought of screen-optimised images.
We chose our print partner specifically for their quality, not their speed or cost. The physical object should feel commensurate with what it represents.
A fair question, and we'd rather you asked it than didn't.
The most honest evidence we can offer: you don't pay until you've seen your pet's portraits. If we were running a scam, we would charge you first and produce nothing. The entire model, free preview, pay only if you love it, is designed for a world where trust hasn't been established yet.
But more than any of that: the preview costs you nothing. See the portraits first. Then decide if you trust us.
All Animals Welcome
No. We have created books for dogs, cats, rabbits, horses, guinea pigs, birds, a particularly photogenic iguana, and one extremely dignified goldfish. If you loved them, we can create their portrait gallery.
The model is trained on your pet's specific photos, which means it works for any animal with enough visual detail in your photos for us to learn from. Some animals are harder than others, very small creatures, or animals with naturally limited facial variation, but we'll tell you honestly if we think the results won't reach our usual standard.
Every animal is welcome. Every animal deserves to be remembered beautifully.
No, multiple-pet books is something that we don't do however we create single pet book, which you can create for all your pets.
We'd rather talk through your situation than have you upload and discover the standard flow doesn't accommodate what you need.
